Bedal Peak is a pyramid-shaped mountain shaped by Cougar Creek to the east, Bedal Creek to the west, and a fork of the Sauk River to the north. Bedal Peak is located east of the Mountain Loop Highway south of the town of Darrington. It is situated 2 miles north of Sloan Peak. From the orthogneiss summit, one has a commanding view of the North Face of Sloan, east to Glacier Peak, and north to Pugh and White Chuck. The peak is named for James Bedal, an early pioneer who settled in the area in the late 1800's. Use the same approach as for Sloan Peak. Refer to Fred Beckey's Cascade Alpine Guide, Volume 2, for alternate approaches and variations.
