Walk up
Caballo Mountain overlooks the mountain town of Los Alamos in the Jemez Mountains, formed by a large volcanic eruption from a dormant caldera less than five miles away. The peaks of the Sierra de los Valles in the Jemez Mountains do not have sharp peaks, rather they have rounded tops. There are no challenges on your way up Caballo other than being able to climb steep hills. You will have to descend into Guaje Canyon, then climb 2,000 feet up the summit from there where a large meadow on top will open up amazing views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the Sandias to the south.
