Walk up
The highest of the Northwestern Lakeland Fells, rising steeply over Crummock Water. Unless you like to make things difficult for yourself the key to the ascent is Coledale Hause, a plateau reached from either the Newlands side (via a disused mine road) or from the Crummock side via Gasgale Gill (the path alongside which is rough and in parts sliding down the fellside). The mine road route requires that Coledale Beck be crossed - worth remembering at times when the water level is high (stepping stones - just). Views are supposed to to fantastic - pity the mist rolled in just as we reached the summit.
