two starting points lead to the peak: Pura Besakih, the traditional start at 900m, is 90 minutes longer than a new route from Pura Pasar Agung at 1.600m. If you take this new and challenging route, turn left (or west) at the tree line, as this route traditionally leads to a false and lower peak to the east.
