Yes tor is near the high willhays on dartmoor it is one of th five tors over 600m.dartmoor is a former range from many millions (possibly billions) of years ago that rivaled the himalays but has eroded away to about one 12th of their size leaving the granite tors behind. There are five over 600m meaning they remain mountains.Yes tor is the second highest there and can be sen from many miles away making it far more distinctive compared to its peers. The best place to go is by fernworthy resevoir and head for the distinctive rock formations past the forest.yes tor is easy enogh in all conditions for the initiated but take care not to underestimate the moors as it is deep in dartmoor meaning that phone signals will not work and there are no roads so people can ill afford serious injury.Yes tor is easy and fun and makes for a good peak to climb repeatedly with a pack to train for expeditions in winter.Dartmoors non mountains offer very good scrambling from grades 1 to 4 and some good rock climbing too so be sure to check out the rocky neighbors.
