Yesterday climbing was easy up to Kepa then very difficult in the Stony Pine onwards with drifting snow, slow going as bitter wind but keep falling over as sink in snow, have to follow in deep boot marks of previous person. Here one needs snow boots fitted like tennis racquets to be able to walk on top easily without falling through of skis otherwise very slow progress.

Climbing today path was ice under snow, you needed clamp ins spikes to grip through as sliding everywhere. No wind in wooded area but at Kepa feeling strong northerly -8c real feel, later at 1589mtrs wind was 40kmph giving windchill of -10c and worse. I had to return as my heart not working nearly blacked out as also have Raynauds syndrome and very weak blood flow, face fingers I could not feel at all, to go on for me further in that chill would have been certain death. People with good hearts it's no problem but it was my limit. Love this mountain and have climbed it before in under 2hrs.
