Grossglockner Climbing Notes
Tomas from CZECH REPUBLIC writes:
4th to 7th Dec
Very demanding through the lot of new snow (circa 50-80cm). Two unsuccessful attempts to reach either summit or the Erz.Joh. Hütte. Stüdlegrat almost impossible, Normalweg almost the same. We finished cca 150m bellow the cottage because of the weather (sometimes white out) and a lack of time. Very slow ferrata ascend (cables and steels under the snow and ice). Sometimes necessary to make temporary anchors for belaying.
Weather was not so harsh, almost sunny but the danger of avalanches. About 8 degrees below zero.
