Mount Olympus Climbing Notes
Bryony from UNITED KINGDOM writes:
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some advice about hiking Olympus in early November as struggling to find information online! 4 of us are planning to climb Olympus in a 2 day period 7th - 8th of November 2020 and at the moment we are plannin to hike up to the Skolio Peak and then walk the ridge line to Mytikas.
I've seen lots of information on snow beginning to fall in November but unclear if we will need crampons or will we manage without - even if we only go to Skolio Peak? If we do need crampons, is there anywhere in Prionia/Litochoro that sells them?
We're hoping to take sleeping gear up with us and stay at one of the emergency shelters en route, is there an particular one that people would recommend based on experience?
And lastly, if due to poor weather conditions we were unable to get to Mytikas, would anyone recommend an alternative route or even an alternative peak to avoid snow/poor visibility?
Thanks,
B
