I'm not sue anyone can actually ' claim the mountain! I live in the Valley between the mountain and what's called Vestavia Hills, our mountain has been covered with kudzu , and a road goes through it that connect the valley to the downtown area of Birmingham. You can however take the trails . I mean , if you're not afraid of snakes and whatever else is hidden in the Kudzu, go for it! Once I ran down it, not a great idea, there's places built with steps you can maneuver but idk of anyone getting pumped about ascending our mountain,. I Love our Area, it's beautiful, a diverse and big enough city while many of the surrounding communities have a small town feel to them. Homewood and Mt. Brook especially have communities that allow for the ability to walk to and enjoy, parks, restaurants, shops, churches. Our kids go to the best schools, are typically safe to walk places unsupervised, to and from schools as well. It's not for everybody, but it's the BEST LIFE for me and mine. Oh yeah, it's a very wealthy and beautiful place to live! Plus our weather is GREAT! We are 4/5 hrs from the most beautiful beaches on the Gulf of Mexico, and about the same to the Mountains of Alabama, GA,TN , same with NO. ATLANTA is a hop skip and a jump! But we don't need anyone extra here! LIL!! UAB an internationally known and excellent Hospital is located here that also has a University , so lots of Healthcare workers come from all over to get educated, or work here! I LIVE THIS PLACE!
