The Trusmadi peak can be reached via three routes:
* Mannan trail via Sinua (longest trail)
* Kaingaran trail via Tambunan (easiest route)
* Mastan trail via Keningau (shortest but least developed).
I took the Mannan trail, taking about five hours by car to reach the small village of Sinua from Kota Kinabalu, and staying in "Camp 1" before starting the walk on the following morning.
The walk from Camp 1 to Camp 2 is 7.4km took about three hours. It's an old logging road - so not too steep. Lots of leeches.
From Camp 2 the summit is 4.2km. We started at 1am (too early) and reached the peak at 4am. Very steep and rough track. Best view from the top is from the observation tower, about 400m from the peak.
From the summit back to the bottom (11.6km) took about five hours, with a brief stop for breakfasts at Camp 2.
Very enjoyable walk despite many leeches at the bottom.
